Theory Presentation

  1. I really enjoyed the set up of your slideshow. The topic is obviously clear that you are writing about fan fiction. Your theory is that they are authors in a variety of ways. You make plenty of assertions and premises throughout the slideshow as well. It is a great guide to your topic because you have a lot of subtopics throughout the slideshow that make it easy to read for any audience. Maybe something to think about adding would be examples excerpts of some of your favorite fan fiction just to give those people, like me, who don't read or know anything about fan fiction an idea of what it consists of in the literature sense. Visually you include great slides showing examples of remixed graphics for fan fiction. They are definitely central images at the end of the slide, and the graphics used in the beginning of the show relate to whatever was talked about on that particular slide also. There were terms and concepts we spoke about in class used in your slide so that was good also, but maybe you can just incorporate some more concepts throughout the slides.

  2. Hi Jason,

I think you make a lot of points about fan fiction. Your general claim seems to be stated pretty fairly: fan fiction writers deserve the right to be called authors. You offer a lot of examples inside the realm of fan fiction include art, video, e-feds, and others. You definitely guide the reader of your topic through the different types of fan fiction you are interested in but I think you can take this a little further or mention some of the problem with why authorship is something "out of reach" for fan fiction writers.

The one thing that is on the ENGL 303 blog that I can suggest you take into more consideration (I think I have to do this too) is to use some of the articles we were given to read for class to help support some of your assertions about fan fiction authorship. It might help you expend your ideas.
